How much does a cake cost?

Well, how long is a piece of string?

As every cake is unique, prices vary and are matched according to your requirements.

When buying a cake you are buying my time to make it, so the more elaborate a design, the more time it will take.

As a guide , the below prices show the cost of a basic round sponge cake

2 Tier = from £153 (6 & 8")

3 Tier = from £202 (4, 6 & 8")

4 Tier = from £306 (4, 6, 8 & 10")

5 Tier = from £431 (4, 6, 8, 10 & 12")

The information I need to help me quote for a cake is the date and the number of portions you need it to serve; we can then work together to create a design that is perfect for you and your budget.  I will guide you through the correct size tiers for your party and take inspiration form your style and wedding theme/colours.  By all means let me see any pictures of styles or designs that you like as elements can be used when creating your bespoke cake.

If you have a specific budget in mind, please be up front about this.  It is a time consuming process to design and cost up a cake and so it is important that I know if there are any restrictions for me to work within.  I can accommodate a range of budgets and will suggest tweaks to your design to help stay within any price restrictions.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for a free, no obligation chat or to book onto the next free wedding cake consultation and tasting.

Do you cater for Allergies?

Yes I do.  I have many tested recipes for a number of allergies and will test out and try new recipes for those I have not yet catered for.
Please just let me know during consultation and we can discuss this.

All cakes are delivered with either an allergens form or an ingredients label, so if you have any surprise allergies amongst you guests, you know what the cake includes.

Do you do a {insert theme here} cake?

On the whole, yes!  Just because you don't see that specific cake or theme on my page, does not mean it is out of my capabilities!
The wackier the better so bring it on :-)  In fact you may even find you get some extra bits thrown in so I can try a design out for my portfolio.

The only cakes I do refuse are pornographic cakes as I work from home and have 2 young children... and that's a conversation I don't need to have over my morning porridge!

How much notice do I need to give?

As much as you can please.  Dates do get booked up quickly for weddings and there are only so many commissions I can take on in a week.
If you are keen for Cake Lips to make your wedding cake, a small deposit of £50 can be sent to secure your date and we can meet later to discuss a design and flavours.  Final designs need to be agreed 1 month before your wedding date.

Do you Deliver and set up?

Yes.  Set up is free and I usually insist on doing this for all wedding cakes unless you are getting married a long way away.  Some cakes are best transported in separate tiers and assembled on site - plus I always carry my trusty 'puncture repair kit' with me in case of any mishaps on the journey, so all you get to see is your perfect cake!
It can be a very stressful task to ask friends or family to deliver your cake so it is best left in my hands!

Delivery is based on distance from Rochester, so there may be a small charge. Let me know on consultation where your venue is and I can give an accurate figure.  The same applies for all birthday cakes, however a free collection service is also available.

My Mum/Grandma/Aunt/Best Friend wants to bake my cake but they aren't confident on the decoration.
Will you decorate it?

I'm afraid not.  In order to ensure a cake is going to hold up for the occasion and look good, I need to be assured it has good foundations.  If I haven't baked the cake myself I don't know if it will be sufficient to support other tiers or the icing.

The exception to this would be a fruit cake (for example the traditional saved tier of a wedding cake for a christening).

If you want to make your own cake or are opting for a supermarket cake, I do have the option of buying a topper or floral display to add on, or see the wedding page for more information on my 1:1 tuition service to help coach you/your relative on how to stack a cake and create an elegant display.

Do you make everything yourself?

You must have so much patience?!

Well that... and a good wine supply :-)

All cakes are professionally home-baked with a multitude of flavour combinations.

Both can be flavoured or teamed with a number of tantalising fillings to complete a taste sensation.

Choose from a wide range of options including vanilla, lemon, orange, lime, baileys, Raspberry/ Strawberry Jam, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut Praline, Peanut Butter, Toffee, Marmalade, Lemon/Lime/Pineapple/Raspberry Curd, Cream Cheese Icing or even a jelly layer can be incorporated.

If you have a favourite biscuit or chocolate bar, why not let us combine fillings to make your cake extra special and unique for you (eg Jaffa cake or Snickers)

Unless otherwise agreed, all cakes are coated in a layer of chocolate ganache and covered with Couture Sugarpaste
(marzipan replaces the ganache for fruit cakes unless otherwise stated)
